Magical Wool
Merino wool is naturally extremely warm due to the structure of the wool fibres themselves. Wool is kinked and curly which means it does not lay flat. Air is trapped around the kinks. These 'airpockets' warm up from your body's natural heat.
Possum fibre is the secret ingredient, working like an insulator to keep the warmth in. Just like a home stays warm when it is properly insulated, your woollens will stay warmer because of the insulating properties of possum fibre.
Possum fibre is also very light due to it being hollow. When added to super-fine merino wool the garment can be very fine yet surprisingly warm simply due to the "bulk' added. Except it is not bulky at all.
You'll be amazed how light these garments are. They're often compared to cashmere. In actual fact merino and possum is warmer than cashmere but it has the same feel of lightness, smoothness and softness.
For these reasons we recommend New Zealand Merino + Possum to anyone who suffers the cold, but is possibly frail or experiences shoulder and neck fatigue when wearing heavy knitted woolen garments or accessories.
