Possum Gillet

A beautiful wardrobe layering piece for transitional weather and for later once the weather turns cold.

The Possum Gillet is newly designed for the 2025 Winter season. Its a mid-thigh length open vest / short-sleeved cardigan with a delightful cap sleeve shoulder. Made from the signature luxury blend of extra fine merino wool (17.5 microns), sustainably-sourced possum fibre and mulberry silk, this wardrobe essential is soft, lightweight and warm. 

You'll want to add this to your wardrobe now and it will be a classic staple for many years to come. Layer it over a shirt, long sleeved t-shirt or even a fine merino base layer, turtle neck. The loose sleeve provides comfort.

Merino wool is known to be soft and warm. 17.5 micron merino is the finest available. This is the product of years of technological advancement in sheep breeding and farming. Happy sheep produce a superior quality wool. Such a fine wool is soft and non-scratchy. Very few customers report discomfort that you might remember when you wore wool as a child. 

The addition of possum fibre is a New Zealand initiative. It provides insulation which means your body generates heat and the garment holds it close to you. Possum is lightweight but extremely warm so wearing this Gillet will add a level of warmth that you wouldn't expect. Our customers tell us that shoulder and neck discomfort is reduced simply because of the warmth without the weight. 

Even with this fine and beautiful textile the Possum Gillet does not require any extra special care. You may handwash it or wash it in the machine on the wool or delicate cycle. The only special care that we recommend is to dry your Gillet flat on a rack or on a folded towel. Please use a detergent designed for wool (look for the woolmark).
